Meet Dr. Chris Hawn, DC

Dr. Chris HawnYou might hear this around South County at various events because Dr. Chris Hawn and his wife Terry are always involved in some sort of South County activity and love being partof the community.  They are firm believers that service is an important part of having a fulfilled life. They met as members of the Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary Club and continue to be involved with the club’s various service projects and events to this day.  Another activity that the Hawn family participates in is volunteering for the

Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group.  This non-profit local organization helps take care of our brave Marine and Sailor Warriors  while they are deployed and assists their families left behind at Camp Pendleton and the surrounding communities.

In hopes of making you more comfortable, I would like to introduce myself to you so that you can put a face on a name and know something about me before we meet. I grew up in Huntington Beach CA where I was always involved in athletics.  I love sports.  I played quarterback and safety for my high school football team, wrestled and also pole vaulted.  In college I played football and also began a seven year stint playing Rugby.

After completing my undergraduate studies at San Diego State University I was accepted and attended the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa.  I received my doctorate in chiropractic in 1981 graduating cum laude and receiving a distinguished service award from the college.
Licensed in California for over 35 years, I have seen and treated the causes of everything from post surgical low back pain to colicky babies. The age spectrum of patients  I have had the opportunity to treat runs from 3 days old to 92 years young. The stories related to the 3 day old and the 92 year young patient are fascinating.  Ask me about the memorable success stories of how chiropractic changed the lives of these and many more patients.  I never tire sharing stories of what appears to be miraculous healing and recovery through chiropractic.

Westminster, California was where I first settled after graduating from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1981. During those early years,  I seemed to  attract  pro athletes seeking chiropractic care.  At the time when pro basketball was all about “Showtime” in Lakerland, a few of the “very tall Lakers and one Utah Jazz player sought care in my office. Once these very well known athletes starting using me as their Chiropractor, my practice became very busy with athletes from all over California.  I was also  honored to serve as the chiropractor for the USA World Cup Ski team in Beaver Creek CO.  On the local scene, I was the team chiropractor for Western and Westminster  High Schools.

I had always wanted to live down south somewhere between Encinitas and Laguna Beach and  after five years of caring for patients in Westminster,  I  had a calling for Laguna Niguel and decided to relocate there. Soon after, I met and married my wife Terry who I met at a Rotary  meeting. That was the magical connection  that changed my life. I now had my compass and clear direction.  I am proud to say that we have been married  nearly 24 years and have an amazing daughter named Jamee that we are extremely proud of. My wife and I currrently reside in Dana Point, CA

Life Experiences

My wife Terry and I have enjoyed a lifetime of travel together and have visited somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 countries. Community  service  and traveling the world are our two favorite passions.  Great stories have come out of the trips we have taken where something unexpected or challenging always happens. “That’s the great part about going to new cultures and expanding new horizons. There is always something memorable to reminisce and talk about long after the trip is over.

Patients frequently ask me  what my favorite trip or destination is.  I like to break it into three categories:

  • Best in US – Alaska
  • Warm weather getaway – Bora Bora – Moorea
  • Cultural Highlight – Thailand and Bali
  • Educational – Washington DC
