Ear Infections – Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment

None of the antibiotics are working. . .Tubes placed in your child’s ears have to be the last resort!

earinfectionsAs parents, it makes us feel so helpless. Our child is suffering but there seems little that we can do. No wonder reoccurring ear infections (otitis media) account for a huge number of pediatrician visits. The traditional remedies for ear infections include:

Antibiotic Therapy
This may be effective for acute bacterial infections, but many cases are viral, for which antibiotics are useless.

Tubes In The Ear
Surgical implantation of artificial drainage tubes require the administration of a risky anesthesia and then, they often come out! However, many parents are choosing a more conservative approach.

Chiropractic care.
Many children respond to chiropractic adjustments in the cervical spine to reduce nerve disturbances that may make the ears prone to infection. The great benefir to this approachis there are no drugs or excessive antibiotics prescribed.

Our bodies have an incredible capacity to fight infection. When that ability is impaired, it means something else is going on. With our focus on the integrity of the nervous system, we start there. Clear out any nerve interference, eliminate dairy and apple juice, and watch nature take its course.

Nerve Compromise
It surprises many to learn that some of the nerves that control, regulate and monitor the ear begin in the brain stem, continue down the spinal cord and exit out from between the bones of the spinal column.

Changes to the function of the bones in the upper neck may compromise the quality of the nerve signals to and from the brain. Obviously, this can affect the ability of any organ or tissue, in this case your child’s ear, to “defend itself” from infection.

Impaired Drainage
Nerve compromise is often accompanied by abnormal tension to the muscles that support the spine. Besides “protecting” the spine from further compromise, these muscle spasms can exert pressure on nearby lymphatic drainage ducts. This prevents natural drainage, further compounding the problem.

What We Do
Our approach is simple. Since chiropractic care isn’t a treatment for infections of any type, when parents bring their child for us to check, we look specifically for distortions in the upper spine. If nerve tension is detected, we gently reduce it with safe and natural chiropractic adjustments. This helps restore nervous system integrity. For a child or infant, this usually requires little more than a light touch with our fingertip at just the right place and direction.

If the cause of your child’s condition is related to the misalignment of one or more vertebra which is directly affecting the flow of nerve impulses to his/her body, you need to know that only specific chiropractic adjustments to gently move their spine into balance is going to fix the cause. Medications may change the symptoms you are experiencing, but drugs have serious side effects and do not address the cause of the symptom..

The diagnosis is simple. They either have misaligned vertebra or other boney components that are out of alignment or they don’t. A good analogy  is when the  car’s wheels are out of alignment. The only fix is to realign the wheels.

Conditions & Symptoms

Physical therapy and muscle relaxers didn’t work for me

“Physical therapy and muscle relaxers didn’t work for me.  After my accident, the only real relief I got was from Dr. Chris.  He told me it would take time and it did.  But today I can say that for someone who had ongoing pain for over a year, his personalized treatments really changed my life.”

Sharp Pain in the Low Back

“I was first referred to Dr. Chris Hawn by a fellow worker. I had sharp pain in my low back and that was being caused by lifting, tugging and pulling. My pain started to get very severe to the point where it became hard to get up from a seated position or in and out of my car.

Currently, I have had very good results in the fact that there is much less discomfort and generally no pain, just a few aches in the morning until I get lumbered up. I’m 71 years young and have tried to learn not to push myself to do things that are not good for my back!”

I now have hope where my M.D. just prescribed drugs

“Talk about getting better naturally.  Dr. Hawn presented a treatment plan that allowed me to take control of how much better I would get.  Between the specialized exercises, treatment, supports and caring attitude, I now have hope where my M.D. just prescribed drugs.”
